The Zambia Mission in Ankara has expressed confidence in the potential for increased trade and investment between Zambia and Türkiye, following a series of business-to-business initiatives designed to facilitate interaction between the two nations.Zambia's Ambassador to Türkiye, Lt. Gen. Dr. William Maipambe Sikazwe (Rtd.), emphasized the mutual benefits that both countries stand to gain from exchanging knowledge in sectors such as agriculture, energy, construction, tourism, health and medical products, and mining technology. He highlighted the importance of enhancing import and export activities.Dr. Sikazwe was speaking at the official opening of the Zambia-Türkiye Business Forum held at the City Hotel in Ankara. The event, hosted by the Industry and Trade Confederation (SANKON), aimed to boost exports and imports between the two nations.The Forum, conducted both in-person and virtually, was attended by members of SANKON, the Zambia Development Agency, the Zambia Ministry of Energy, Agri-Smart Entrepreneurs of Zambia, the Zambia Ministry of Tourism, and diplomats from both Zambia and Türkiye.“The President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, has provided direction and leadership aimed at guiding the country towards economic stabilization. Following the guidance of the Head of State and the country’s Foreign Policy, the Zambian Embassy in Ankara is focused on promoting trade and investment between Zambia and Türkiye,” Dr. Sikazwe stated.He further noted that the Zambian government has prioritized promoting the Zambian economy through partnerships with global players such as SANKON.Speaking at the same event, SANKON President Mr. Ferudun Cevahiroğlu reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Zambian business community to promote trade and investment between the two countries. He encouraged forums like the Zambia-Türkiye Business Forum as they provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and critical information that facilitates business decision-making.Mr. Cevahiroğlu emphasized the importance SANKON places on enhancing bilateral economic relations between Zambia and Türkiye for the benefit of both countries. He assured that companies associated with SANKON are ready to share knowledge with their Zambian counterparts in various sectors, including IT, investment, and infrastructure development such as the construction of airports, dams, highways, residences, energy projects, and mining enterprises.He stressed that the SANKON board of directors and all its units are prepared to take all necessary initiatives to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.The Zambia-Türkiye Business Forum, hosted by SANKON in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Ankara, discussed issues related to import-export relations between Zambia and Türkiye and explored investment opportunities in Zambia.
