TRAVEL ADVISORY

The Zambian Mission in Turkey wishes to advise Zambians wishing to transit through Turkey to other destinations in the world, to take note that many airlines have suspended flights to help stem the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Citizens may wish to note that during this period, Turkish Airlines is only operating flights to five destinations namely, Hong Kong, Moscow, Addis Ababa, New York and Washington.
In order to avoid getting stranded and the inconvenience of being turned back to Zambia, travellers may wish to note that the Turkish flag carrier is only catering for the following three (3) classes of passengers:
• Turkish citizens returning to Turkey,
• Passengers in transit where there are still connection flights available, and
• Residents of Turkey.
On arrival in Turkey, returning citizens and residents are subjected to the mandatory isolation for 14 days at designated facilities while diplomats are required to self-quarantine to help limit the outbreak of the coronavirus, which was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The flight ban , which will remain in force until April 17, 2020, covers the following countries: Angola, Austria, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Czechia, China, Colombia, Djibouti, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Georgia, Hungary, India, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Montenegro, Mongolia, Morocco, Moldova, Mauritania, Nepal, Niger, Norway, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Oman, the Philippines, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Taiwan, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
It must also be noted that Turkish Airlines suspended flights between Lusaka and Istanbul with effect from March 20, 2020 to April, 21, 2020.
